Yves and Nathalie Van Caeneghem-Degroote currently have a bull weighing no less than 1,633 kg on their premises in Avelgem. This is 200 kilograms better than the previous record holder of the Belgian Blue breed. This bull, named Ronaldo at the time, is an impressive animal at five years old.

The son of the cattle Ultimo and Raquette he was born on 07/10/2015, with a birth weight of 65 kilos, which has since been multiplied by 25.

He is the result of thoughtful crossbreeding, and also of a healthy appetite, especially now that he is being fattened. “He eats 10 kilograms of corn, supplemented with straw, and 16 kilograms of concentrate every day,” says owner Yves Van Caeneghem. He is fed with DumoulinMaxibeef 26 and Euromash F18 for fattening.

But Ronaldo is not long for this earth. The risk of heart failure is high, so he will be sent to the slaughterhouse soon. “His career is over; he’s not productive anymore,” says Yves. “He can no longer produce offspring. So it is with regret that we will have to say goodbye to him.”

But there is one consolation: Ronaldo Vandescheldemeersch will live on after his death in as many as 80 descendants.
